I dont think food stamps should buy flavoured beverages

I know a lot of people will disagree and thats fine. But, this is how I feel based on having to live off food stamps which someone else has the authority to spend and not me. I dont feel like you should be able to buy beverages with the exception of milk because its used for food, nor should you be able buy candy.

Its not food, it doesnt feed anyone and its really not necessary. I can see some need for juice maybe, but in that case it should be like wic and be limited to basically apple, orange and grape no cocktails, no mixes and 100% juice only. Why do I feel so strongly about this? Because the food stamps I have had to live on and am living on until we move out are governed by my mother in law and she spends all of it on junk. We get $900/mo, yeah nine hundred god-damned dollars. Thats an insane amount of money. Yet some how we always end up with nothing in the fridge or cupboards. Why? Because she went grocery shopping yesterday and what she managed to get was SIX GALLONS of bottled juice, a 24 pack of coke, 2 half gallons of iced coffee, several of those large cans of iced tea, a tub of chocolate milk mix, tang and some fucking candy. None of that will feed me, none of that will give me nutrients. When Im hungry and I open the fridge, none of that will be helpful. All she ever buys with the food stamp card is beverages both in large containers and then things like 20oz sodas which she buys all of the time because apparently water is the devil, candy and things like doritos or other generally useless snack items. The other things she bought while shopping? A shit load of bread but no mayo or sandwhich toppings, multiple pounds of cheese, 1 frozen pizza and 5 easy mac things in the bowl. That was her grocery shopping. That was her idea of feeding the family for the month.

That is why I feel like food stamps should be reserved for food and for milk and maybe bottled water if the water in your area is too hard. It is completely absurd that $900 can be spent with an EBT card and hardly any of it be food, and the family still be hungry.
