On thing about having this baby that I am unhappy about is being positive for GBS. GBS is simply a bacteria all women carry and it just shows up randomly and you dont know it and it doesnt effect you. However it can cause baby to get sick if getting it while passing through the birth canal. The chances are slim that the baby will even without antibiotic but they want to make sure so you have to take them.

You have to take them through IV and thats a bummer because I really didnt want to have an IV. I was find with a heplock in my hand in case I had to get an emergency IV but dont want to be hooked up to something. Thankfully its only for 15 minutes which Ill have to lay down for anyways because they will want to do a strip on the monitor to test contractions and baby’s heartbeat. But they want to do idealy 2 does and they are 8 hours apart instead of 4 (because im allergic to penicillin and the other one has to be done farther apart). So they want me to come in early. That clashes with my plan of laboring at home as long as possible.

The other part that really bothers me is  because of it I have a longer hospital stay. Instead of being able to go home within 24 hours, I have to stay for 2 days post partum :( I wanted to go home like right away. Hospitals are for the sick and honestly I dont want to fucking stay long in one in a hospital bed away from my comfy home and all my things and jon has to stay there too and its not the most comfortable place for him to sleep since they dont exactly give you a second bed. Hopefully they will just be like “oh well everything is good, see you later” and send us on our way  but I highly doubt it.

  1. candiwax said: i had gbs and was irritated about having to be hooked up as well…make sure to tell them to give you the dosage slowly! you make be hooked up longer but otherwise the meds burn like hell!!
  2. fatale-distraction said: Oh no. D: Hospitals are terrible. I didn’t get any sleep at ALL when I was there, and I was there until 4:30 in the morning. T_T I hope they’ll just let you go home.
